What oatmeal is the best oatmeal for homemade vanilla almond granola?
The best oatmeal to use for this granola recipe is old-fashioned oats. I use the Quaker Oats brand and it is just fantastic. Make sure you aren’t using the oatmeal packets, but are rather using the dry old fashioned oats in the large quaker oats container. You can also use quick oats for this recipe.
Also, be sure to use pure maple syrup for this recipe, the cheap stuff won’t work with this granola recipe.
How to Make Vanilla Almond Granola.
This is the easiest granola recipe to make and will be done in just 45 minutes! Let’s get to it!
First, place parchment paper on a large baking sheet.
Second, in a large bowl, mix the dry ingredients together: oats, slivered almonds, brown sugar, ground cinnamon, and salt. Mix this well and set aside. You will want the oats and almonds to be well coated with the cinnamon.
Thirdly, whisk the wet ingredients together: pure maple syrup with the melted butter until well combined. Then, add the vanilla extract and almond extract (if using) and whisk until well combined and pour over the oats and stir until the oat mixture is evenly coated.
Lastly, pour the granola mixture onto the prepared baking sheet and spread it around evenly covering the entire pan. Stir every 10 minutes to prevent uneven cooking and burning. Your homemade granola is done when it is golden brown.
If you want to spice this granola up even more, you can add pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, banana chips , a variety of nuts, and almond extract for an extra almond flavor. Add any of your other favorite things!
How do I Store Granola?
You can store homemade vanilla almond granola in an airtight container or a sealed ziplock bag in a cool, dry spot for up to 6 months. Granola can also be frozen in a ziplock bag.
I love how versatile granola is! If you are craving chocolate turn this recipe into a chocolate granola recipe! Add 1/2 cup cocoa powder and 1 cup chocolate chips! Adding sea salt into the granola mixture will really make those chocolate flavors pop!
When I was making this vanilla almond granola recipe, I wanted something crunchy in my yogurt. I really dislike soft yogurt. I don’t know why lol. It’s just odd to me. I was also sick up buying granola at the grocery store and going through it super fast! That’s 5 bucks (well spent) but gone too fast! This recipe makes SO MUCH granola, it lasts about 2 weeks! Ughh yah, that’s awesome!
So, no more wasting money on store bought granola ladies, it’s time to make our own super fast, super healthy, and without all that other added junk!
