So, if you’re looking for fun and festive Halloween Rice Krispie treats than this recipe will show you how!
One thing I am endeavoring to do more of with my boys is have them help me make fun recipes. My boys (as most) love to get messy, make messes, and create art projects. My oldest had so much fun decorating Rice Krispies treats with me for this blog post. It was also a fun way to connect with him now that we have a 1 year old in the house.
For this recipe, I make little frankensteins; however you can make these into any fun halloween rice krispie treats character you’d like! This blog post will show you a few different variations that you can use!

How to make halloween decorated Rice Krispies treats
First, you are going to want to make your Rice Krispies treats.
Start by melting the butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Add in the marshmallows and stir constantly until all the marshmallows are melted. Add the vanilla. Remove the marshmallow mixture from the heat and stir in all of the Rice Krispies cereal, until the gooey marshmallows cover all of the cereal.
Pour into a parchment paper lined square pan, spread out evenly and press down lightly. Let sit on the counter for 1 hour before cutting into squares.

After you have made the Rice Krispies and they are cut into squares, it’s time to melt the chocolate!
For this recipe I have melted white chocolate chips, but you can also melt chocolate chips, black candy melts, orange candy melts, and different color candy melts. I use white chocolate chips so I can use food coloring to make the chocolate different colors.
Melt the chocolate using a double boiler (see this post for how to make a makeshift doubler boiler–it’s super easy).
Separate the chocolate into different bowls and color with food coloring.
I like to leave one bowl white so I can make mummy Rice Krispie treats as well.
Use a spoon, piping bag, or ziplock bag to drizzle green colored chocolate over the Rice Krispie.
Add two candy eyes for eyes and two mini marshmallows on either side of the head. and Boom! you have a Frankenstein rice krispie treat!
Let the chocolate harden for a few minutes before enjoying your festive Frankenstein Rice Krispie treats.
