What Ingredients Do I Need to Make Creamy Peanut Butter Coffee?
Just three simple ingredients make up this yummy coffee, and you probably already have them in your kitchen, which makes adding this peanut butter mixture to your cup of coffee a good idea that’s easy to implement. Here’s what you will need:
- Brewed coffee – choose your favorite type of coffee
- Peanut butter- choose your favorite kind of peanut butter, but creamy peanut butter works best for this recipe
- Vanilla creamer – I use Coffee Mate French Vanilla Creamer, but any vanilla creamer will work. (TIP: If you don’t like creamer, you can substitute it for whole milk, almond milk, oat milk, or your milk substitute of choice.)
What Equipment Do I Need for Peanut Butter Coffee?
Minimal equipment is needed for this peanut butter coffee recipe which is one of the reasons I love it! Just grab a few things from your pantry to get you started. Check out what I use to bring this hot and creamy recipe to life below.
- Coffee pot to brew the coffee – I like using a french press, but any coffee pot will do.
- Frother – to blend the ingredients together. I love this frother.
- Blender (optional) – to blend all the ingredients together. This helps mix the peanut butter in more thoroughly.
What is Peanut Butter Coffee?
Peanut Butter Coffee is made by simply blending a cup of coffee with 1 tablespoon of smooth peanut butter. Add in some vanilla creamer and you’ve got a new favorite recipe that holds the best flavor. Plus, adding in peanut butter has health benefits that allow you to easily get extra protein in your diet, making your morning coffee not just yummy but also a healthy addition to your day.
Which Coffee Roasts are Best for this Recipe?
When making this peanut butter coffee recipe, I recommend using medium or dark roast coffee. These roasts have a deeper and richer, strong coffee flavor. When I make this recipe, I personally like to use medium roast, but you can use whichever coffee roast you like best.
How to Make Peanut Butter Coffee
Even on busy days, coffee lovers can follow these simple steps to whip up this coffee recipe which boasts delicious flavor using minimal ingredients and prep time.
- Brew your regular coffee as you normally would.
- Meanwhile, melt the regular peanut butter in the microwave. This will help you stir it in more easily later on.
- Combine a spoonful of peanut butter, coffee, and creamer (or milk, if you’d rather) in your high-speed blender and blend it until it’s smooth.
- Pour it into your favorite fall-themed mug, add cool whip on top, and enjoy your delicious peanut butter coffee as you embrace the impending fall weather.
Can I Make this Drink Ahead of Time?
I recommend making this tasty treat whenever you’re actually ready to drink it. It’s best served right away because the fats will separate the longer it sits making it not as tasty.
Can I Make Iced Coffee Instead?
You can absolutely make an iced version! Make your hot coffee as usual and then pour it over ice cubes. I’ve also used this Mr. Coffee Iced Coffee Maker which brews cold coffee. If you go this route, I would melt the peanut butter as the recipe states, then pour it into the bottom of the mug before brewing. Add your creamer and blend it all together after the coffee is brewed. This would also work with cold brew coffee.
Can I Make Peanut Butter Coffee into a Smoothie Instead?
Definitely! In fact, a peanut butter smoothie sounds delicious. You can make it into a smoothie by adding ice and a banana (optional) into your high speed blender along with the other ingredients. Just blend it well for a fun twist on this recipe. This combination of ingredients creates great flavors for your morning smoothie or coffee.
What Substitutions Can I Make for the Peanut Butter?
Replace the peanut butter with almond butter or any other nut butter for the same great taste and texture.
One of the best things about fall is a hot cup of coffee in the morning, so I hope that this peanut butter coffee recipe starts your day off in the best way. This nutty coffee is an easy way to expose your taste buds to different flavors while still drinking your favorite coffee each morning. Get your day off on the right foot by adding this creamy peanut butter coffee to your list of hot drinks to enjoy this fall. You’ll thank me once you try it!
